In California (USA), during 2021-2022, a group of GNE students and staff from earlier college years got behind the effort to preserve and document the evolution of Guru Nanak Engineering College. The result has been the 12-page document that is presented below.
Briefly, the document provides insights into a five-year task, including:
Engineering education situation in Punjab during partition (1947)
Concerns about education for rural area students
SGPC involvement and formation of the Nankana Sahib Educational Trust
Govt. of India asking founders to raise one crore rupees (1953 value) for necessary permissions
First trustees and management committee (interesting to see members' affiliations).
Land and funds donations. Negotiations with Gill Village for 75 acres
First principal, admissions and courses of studies
Foundation stone laid by President of India (April 1956), Dr. Rajendra Prasad
